Gifford Myers (1948-2019) Studio Estate Sale | Oct 18-19, 2019
Earlybird Liquidation is pleased announce the Studio Estate Sale of Gifford Myers, the internationally renown artist, sculpture and ceramicist whose work is aptly described by the Laguna Art Museum as running the “gamut from finish-fetish minimalism to cartoonish funk.” Myers trained as an architect at UC Berkley and it was there that he began experimenting with ceramics. He received an MFA from UC Irvine in 1975, where he would later teach, and upon graduating became known for his work in clay – most well known are his miniature ceramic houses and surrealist coffee cups, pictured here. He also worked with lead, wood, bronze, aluminum, fiberglass, industrial tiles, and found objects. His artwork has been featured in museums and galleries across the US, Europe, and Asia.
A Pasadena native, Gifford’s art studio was housed in a brick building in the heart of Altadena’s North Lake shopping district and is filled with his art supplies, paintbrushes, paint, tools, found objects, objets d’art, steel pallet rack shelving, artist work tables, steel storage cabinets, industrial carts, ceramics kilns, and all sorts of other interesting and unusual items.
The Gifford Myers Studio Estate Sale will take place on Friday and Saturday, October 18th and 19th, 2019, in Altadena. Please sign up on the Earlybird Liquidation email list to be notified when pictures of the items for sale are posted online and to receive the address of the studio.
