Hughes Joins American Society of Estate Liquidators as Accredited Estate Liquidator

Hughes is proud to be an Accredited Estate Liquidator with The American Society of Estate Liquidators (ASEL), an educational and resource network for estate sale companies and individuals providing personal property estate liquidation services. In 2000, The American Society of Estate Liquidators was established out of a demand for a reputable resource to provide education and guidance to one of the fastest growing industries in the country. It is now managed by a board of directors and Julie Hall, a certified appraiser, author of many books on estate liquidation, and public speaker.

ASEL provides members numerous benefits and is a great resource for people living in the Los Angeles area seeking an estate sale liquidator. One of their many features that we find most useful, both for those in the estate sales industry and those wanting to learn more about it, is their Code of Ethics, which we are reprinting in its entirety below, but you can also find here.

The American Society of Estate Liquidators Code of Ethics

Each Associate of The American Society of Estate Liquidators® (ASEL®) agrees to observe and be dedicated to the following principles and policies:

To be honest and trustworthy at all times and not to be a party to any fraudulent, dishonest, or malicious acts.
To honestly and fairly represent his/her professional competency, qualifications, facilities, and capabilities and not to exaggerate or misrepresent such qualifications in advertising, resumes, or while soliciting clients.
To keep in confidence any private and/or personal information with respect to a client and individuals affiliated with the client and not disclose such information to any third party.
To accept assignments and give advice or opinions that are only within the scope of the estate liquidation process, unless the Associate is professionally qualified to do otherwise or is willing to take steps to see that the necessary research is done to execute the assignment knowledgeably.
To conduct himself/herself in a professional and impartial manner at all times in connection with an estate liquidation.
To make himself/herself reasonably available during all stages of the liquidation process.
To avoid situations which represent a conflict of interest.
To take the steps reasonably necessary to determine a fair liquidation value on personal property to be sold.
To charge a fee based on a fair value for his/her services rendered.

The ASEL offers three level of membership (Associate, Professional Estate Liquidator, and Accredited Estate Liquidator). Based on our experience and expertise, Hughes is an Accredited Estate Liquidator, the highest level of membership.
